Left my bike yesterday morning to have uprated rear spring and a new BT 090 fitted
they phoned me at 4 pm saying they has fitted the tyre and stripped the shock out
but could not change the spring over . they said the rear shock would have to be taken
apart to realease the spring and they dont do work like that.
I just dont see how a Suzuki dealer cant do a job like this , the spring they ordered for the
job cost £80 ....anyway i only paid for the tyre fitted £115 and said i would not be paying
for any of the other stuff.

Hi Otto

Sounds like a suzuki dealer that needs to do a training course.

they have failed to see the locking ring at the bottom of the shock

think Jimi shows it in his how to thread

Regards
Rick

Hi Otto

I think your OOP North so i can't help

would happily change your spring for Nowt mate.

you could always special delivery it down and i can special it back again ?
Regards
Rick

I would suggest you print out Jimi's guide and assault your dealer again mate
once they see the spring ring circlip they may change their mind as it's piss easy.

guessing they didn't even look but just read the "no user servicable parts" crap from the suzuki manual.

the shock is actually fully rebuildable *thumbs*

Just get yourself a cheap second hand one of ebay, and send it to kais. Then stick your old one on ebay after you swap them.
Easier to change this spring than car springs, and I don't know a garage that wouldn't do that!
Sounds as if you need to evaluate letting them touch the bike again!

Agreed, one thing though, in the world of mtb dh bikes.

Basically you have the locking ring to take off, piece of piss yes, but maybe they shock bushings on outside of the pivot needs a special tool to remove them in order to change springs as the spring mayhbe too narrow to fit past.

Point being, - they may not have the tool.

Just a thought.

Could I hijack this thread for a second, what spring rate would I need for 6ft 105-110kg rider?
Which reminds me, got to add some low speed compression to forks.

thanks Jimi/Matt/anyone.

I think its time to send a stinking letter to Suzuki.
Its bloody annoying to see all these tinpot garages where nobody gives a toss about bikes and their just after the money get a main dealer status.

The manufacturer or importer should be vetting these places, as its degrading their products.

your best be would be to speak to kais, hagon shocks who ever you chose let them know your weight height ect and they should be able to sort out the right spring for you *thumbs*
